I received an MA in linguistics and literary theory and obtained my Ph.D. degree in Pedagogical Sciences from Ghent University. In my doctoral dissertation, Screening Pygmalion (2004), I explored the representation of the literacy myth in popular movies.

My teaching and research interests focus on visual representations of education and film education. I have published articles, essays and film reviews in various journals including Review of Education, Pedagogy and Cultural Studies, European Journal of Cultural Studies, Journal of Curriculum Studies and Rekto:Verso - Tijdschrift voor cultuur en kritiek.

I am currently working as an adult education teacher and as a guest lecturer at the Department of Educational Studies of Ghent University.
